Society today is loud, and unlike us, birds cannot put on ear plugs or disconnect with headphones and music. They have to coexist with the noise that the human makes and although they also have their tricks, they don't always get it.

Ornithologist Miguel Ferrer highlights that there are numerous studies that demonstrate the lethal effects of noise on birds: "They are not serious enough effects to produce mortality or the decrease of the fertility of the birds, but they do increase the stress level and alter metabolism and heart rate.

Noises mainly affect the reproduction of birds, since indirectly or indirectly they also affect feeding or courtship because they are not heard between the sexes in some populations. Además, those birds that are highly exposed to noise spend as much time monitoring to the detriment as they do to feeding or detecting potential predators.

Therefore, birds decide to get away from the noise bustle and nest in quieter areas. But also the most urban birds have been adopting survival strategies and adaptation to the environment: resort to higher pitched sounds to get around bass sounds, raise the volume or sing in periods of less background noise.

But among the fauna we also find birds that have a special predilection for noise, precisely as a defense method because its competitors don't tolerate it.
